Jean-Luc Deschanvres was born in CAEN in 1962. He obtained an engineer degree in Physics and a master in material science at Grenoble Institute of Technology (Grenoble INP) in 1985. In 1990 he got a material science PhD at the same Institute and is a permanent CNRS researcher at LMGP since 1991. He is the co-author of more than 60 peer-reviewed publications http://orcid.org/0000-0003-4668-8501

 

Research fields: Material science and thin film processing of functional oxides or fluorides.

Research highlights

  • Thin films synthesis by  MOCVD and aerosol assisted MOCVD ( AACVD or AAMOCVD)
  • Studies of the physico-chemical properties of functional materials
  • Advanced materials for active optics:
    • optical isolator : magneto-optic garnet film
    • telecom amplifier : rare earth doped oxide
    • transparent electronics: p-type TCO
    • RF switches :based on Metal-Insulator Transition material – vanadium oxide, VO2
  • Advanced materials for energy:
    • solid state microbattery : Li electrolyte thin films
    • solar spectral conversion by up or down conversion : rare earth doped oxide or fluoride (YF3)
  • Development of in situ characterization of the CVD or ALD deposition process:
    • X-ray synchrotron
    • Raman lidar
    • Substrate curvature analysis
  • Development of scalable chemical deposition methods for the fabrication of high quality functional materials:
    • UV assisted CVD and aerosol assisted CVD
    • Atmospheric plasma assisted aerosol CVD
