My PhD topic aim at studying and developping ordered arrays of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowire for integration into photovoltaic devices and photodetectors.

- Lithography techniques are developped in cleanroom environment (nanoimprint lithography,...) in order to achieve the selective area growth of ZnO nanowire arrays and control their structural uniformity and physical properties.
- The ZnO nanowires are grown by chemical bath deposition. Their growth and nucleation mechanism, as well as their electrical and optical properties are investigated, particularly with regard to the polarity of the ZnO nanowires.
- Core-shell heterostructures based on ZnO nanowire arrays are fabricated and investigated. The deposition of conformal semiconducing shells on top of ZnO nanowire arrays is conducted by chemical deposition techniques, in solution and vapor phase. The structural and physical properties of these heterostructures are explored through scanning and transmission electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy,...
- The ZnO nanowires based heterostructures are integrated into photodetectors and solar cells. The device performances are evaluated through electrical and optical characterizations.
