Abstract

The need of 3D characterisation of material or structure is becoming more and more important. Depending on the relevant scale several tools are available to perform 3D characterization : Atom probe, FIB and serial cutting, TEM tomography, X-ray tomography … X ray tomography presents the advantage to be non destructive and therefore allows performing in situ and operando experiments. During this presentation we will briefly present X-ray tomography general principles, and the difference between laboratory source and synchrotron sources. We will also present the use of this technique for conventional 3D imaging but also its use for in situ experiments. Finally we will focus on laboratory sources and especially the EASYTOM tomograph available on the campus and its application in materials science.
