Graphene Biosensors Sensors Functionalized through Non-covalent Binding molecules

Dr. Thomas ALAVA

Abstract

Graphene materials in biosensing devices holds great promise. For their excellent conductibility, ultimate surface to volume ratio, biocompatibility and resilience to flexion graphene layers could well be key players in next generation biosensors. A problem still unresolved on that road is the missing knowledge on the proper way to immobilize sensitive biological molecules on surface of graphene layers to functionalize the biosensors. I will introduce the solution gated field effect graphene transistors technology as the basis of a graphene biological sensor. Focus will be brought then on the complex issue of biological functionalization of 2D materials, key results and propositions will be introduced.
