- International student oriented schools:
- HERCULES is a European school which lasts 5 weeks and where about 72 participants come from Europe (as well as Taiwan, USA, Brazil...). Lectures, tutorials and practicals are given by specialists on synchrotron and neutrons science, either concerning their instrumental, scientific and experimental features. The LMGP has been rather active in the organization of this school since the associated Director of HERCULES representing Grenoble INP was Françoise Hippert up to 2003, and Daniel Bellet since them, both from LMGP
- Technical training in TEM and SEM
Workshop on TEM sample preparations.
Objectives : getting minimum theoretical and practical knowledge in sample preparation techniques for materials science. National training session organised on MINATEC-LMGP on a yearly basis by CNRS FORMATION Entreprises L. Rapenne (LMGP) in collaboration with Jeanne Ayache (LM2C). It is oriented to research and engineer training. Partnerships of FMNT, CMTC plateforms
SEM Formation
organised jointly with CMTC. Since 1977, CMTC provides basic to advanced training in all aspects of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Many joint training programmes have been carried out by CMTC and LMGP.
LMGP is also dealing with introducing physics for kids from 3 to about 15 year old. The pedagogical and scientific approaches are very close to the concept of main à la pâte, where kids are actively involved in performing experiments, making suggestions, testing them through experiments, and discussing and presenting them. This project concerns about 30 students from the first year of the Engineer School PHELMA, 400 kids in 17 different classrooms in 5 schools near Grenoble, plus kids located at the Grenoble's hospital. These projects are coordinated by D. Bellet.N. B. : Finally it is important to note that in addition to the pool of G-INP staff, nearly 50% of the CNRS-LMGP researchers participate significantly in the PHELMA cursus.
